Original Location and Team

Ask Jeeves originally operated out of a couple of low-rent rooms in the Acheson Building on University Avenue on University Avenue in Berkeley, California, just one-half block from the UC Berkeley campus. Software developers Gary Chevsky and Dr. Swarup Reddi were hired on, and were assisted by undergraduate students Justin Grant and Rona Yang working part time.

A small team of content curators were also hired to build the Ask Jeeves knowledge base - that is, the database of questions Jeeves knew how to answer. Included in this group were Suzanne Lanoue, Jennie dal Busco, Elizabeth Childs, Renata Ewing, and Monika do Valle.
